Frequent Questions

Frequent Questions

Do I need a referral from my family doctor?

No, you don’t need a referral (unless it is required by your insurance coverage). Many people do, however, seek out counselling on the recommendation of a health professional, family member, friend or spiritual leader.

Will this be covered by my insurance company?

It depends. Some clients can get coverage through their Employee Assistance Program (EAP), some through their health insurance and many pay out of pocket for the service. I strongly recommend that you check with your provider to find out about your options. Please do ask me any questions about this when we meet and I will do my best to assist you.

How long does counselling take?

Most people have between two and six or perhaps up to ten sessions of 50 minutes each to address a specific concern in their lives. Sometimes it depends on how many sessions insurance will cover, the severity of the problem, and what the client is finding helpful.
